Do It Yourself Cruising

I am often asked, "Why do you like cruising so much?"

I'm not sure that there is a definite answer, but the following story may help to explain.

Wilmington, Delaware, I like to say, is like living on the shoulder of the fast lane. This small city in a small state is ideal for someone who loves the open water and boats. Less than an hour's drive south are two of the best boating playgrounds in the country, the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays.

When I married Andy, I not only got him and two teenage boys, but a 33 foot Chris Craft with which to explore the little nooks and coves of the Chesapeake.

At heart, though, I was a sailor. Join us on our final "do-it-yourself" cruise of the Chesapeake, the year before I boarded the Meridian for my first cruise ship experience.
